The stc group, is a diversified holding company of 22 firms and is involved in a wide array of business activities in thailand. Stc/capital rice co. Ltd. Is one of the top three rice exporters in thailand, which works directly with smtc to provide a steady supply of high-quality raw materials and logistical support. Mitsubishi corp. Utilizes its diverse strengths to provide technical, financial, and marketing support to the venture. Thai mc is a local japanese partner that provides an important communication link and regional systems knowhow to ensure the successful day-to-day operations of smtc. Smtc produces over fifty different shapes of rice crackers in a wide array of seasoning variations. About 98% of its products are exported to overseas markets covering europe, the middle east, australia, USA and asia. The main customer is kamada in japan. Total revenues are around us$11 million. Smtc has invested around us$8.9 million in the business. The company maintains its head office and factory at the same location in samutprakarn. A total of 900 employees are employed including three engineers and 20 quality assurance staff. The company is very conscious of the need for quality in both its product range and in its entire production process. As a result, smtc has already achieved the hazard analysis and critical control point(haccp) certification from campden& chorleywood and the gmp certificate from the thai industrial standards institute, ministry of industry.
